HISTORY

A long time before becoming a kingdom in the XI century,the prehistoric men have already left their painting and buildings. We find dolmens in valleys around our Lodges, megalitics tombs where you will have the chance to follow the trace of the Cave Bear.The dinosaurious trace,in Aren. The Celtiberians dropped by here and the Romans lived in Villa Fortunus.Highlanders, who fled from the Arab conquest, sheltered in the Pyrenean valleys.



With the Romanesque, very close SALVELINUS Lodge, some buildings like the Jaca`s Cathedral or San Juan de la Peña Monastery, both pantheons of the Aragon Royal Couple. In adition in the Serrablo , churches of Mozarabic influences. The wonderfull Loarre castle, the Alquezar collegiate church, Siresa, Sasabe, Santa Cruz de la Seros…Eachone no more than 45 minutes from our Lodges.


CLIMATE

The south face of the range, our area, provides a very favourable climate for fly fishing.

The average temperature from June to September is around 60-80 Fahrenheit (16- 26ºC.), but we can forget in Mountains could change fastly. Your clothes must be for summer and for cold weather.

In winter snow covers the majority of the valleys where we usually fish




FAUNA & FLORA

The Aragonese Pyrenees has many protected natural areas such as the Canyon National Park and Sierra de Guara, San Juan de La Peña and the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido, covering approximately 8% of the region. There are also 200.000 hectares of hunting grounds.

There are many species of wild animal in the Pyrenees – from bears to newts, as well as vultures, golden eagles, wild boar, deer, mountain goats, owls, squirrels to name but a few.

CUISINE

The gastronomy heritage shaped by the legacy of different people that have passed through it, conserves its own identity and incorporate a wide range of products cooked like popular dishes.



Along your stay you will enjoy inside and outside of the Lodge with the traditional northern Spanish cuisine: To whet your apepetite, the good garden: endive, borage,cardoon and boliches from the nearby valley of Echo. For main course, buried rabbit from Monegros, Chilindron Chicken, spicy pork sausage from Graus, ecological beef from Broto valley, cod cooked with eggs and garlic. Specail mention about roast aragonesee loin of lamb, truffles, funghi and mushrooms. All this with the typical basil aroma, and watered with wines from Somontano.
