The island cluster of the Guaitecas and the peninsula of Taito are only accessible through a series of narrow channels and fiords. It is an area, which only the local fishermen know really well.
These same local fishermen will share the secrets of this area with you as you explore the remote rivers and lakes of this virtually unknown region of Chile.
The fishing depends very much on when the guests visit the islands. Resident species include rainbows and brown trout. But there are also populations of sea trout and steelhead as well coho salmon and sea bass all of which can be caught during the Noctiluca´s foray into the estuaries.
Some of the locations require anglers to walk to the rivers in a region which is so remote and intact that the local birds’ curiosity gets the better of them and they fearlessly approach anglers and stare at them from less than a yard away!
The Noctiluca sails at night, minimizing travel time, and presenting anglers with a fresh fishing scenario every morning.
The motor vessel Noctiluca was laid down in 2005 and launched in 2007. She is 55 feet long and made of Pilgerodendron wood – a famed wood used extensively in shipbuilding.
She is a perfect combination of the local Chiloe shipwrights´ art and ultra modern technology. The result is safety, quality fittings and the maximum of comfort combined with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The vessel also boasts equipment for the observation of wildlife, fishing and exploration plus motorboats and all the required safety equipment.
Meals are provided by the on board chef and emphasize local produce especially fresh products from the sea. Premium wines are stocked and meals can be adapted to passengers´ requirements.
